Tokyo for 100yen
Is there something you can buy or enjoy in ultra expensive Tokyo for only 100yen?
TokyoEye says there is.
The 100yen shops for example (a concept that had been exported to countries like Thailand where there is a 60baht shop selling all things Japanese). In last night's show, the segment host went to a 100yen shop in Harajuku and found a gazillion of products to choose from: fake nails, fake eyelashes, kitchenware, mini traditional Japanese furniture, even little tatami mats. There was a Korean tourist hoarding on wooden chopsticks to take to friends back home.
There is also a bus that goes around several neighbourhoods. The one they featured was the bus that drives around the Asakusa- Ueno area that features old houses and passes by a famous temple (Kominari-mon?) and the Tokyo National Museum. Only for 100yen per trip and the bus had this retro look.
There is also a food shop in Ikebukuro where dishes cost only 100yen (Kaytee, are you reading this? We can survive!). The dishes range from salad to fried chicken as well as wine and beer.
If you want to release tension and stress or pass the time away singing the blues -- or, if you want to sing your fave Jpop songs (I just don't know if there are romanized lyrics) -- you can enjoy 30 minutes of karaoke for only 100yen.
Sometimes, best things in life are cheap (for only 100yen).
